When researching the Dutroux case, you're left with more questions than you are with answers. This simple observation has led me to look deeper into it, diving in to the unknown.
part two is great! Not sure what other stuff you'll tackle.. but I'm very interested in his connection to Jean-Paul Raemaekers... and Raemakers in-general. Also more info on who might have been visiting the girls Julie and Mélissa while Dutroux was locked up.. One thing I get stuck on is.. if Dutroux was nabbing girls for someone else, which I agree, but then why did he kill the four girls? Whether he did it or someone else.. I'm just confused as to why he would kidnap them if only to kill them.. know what I mean?
Thank you! Raemakers is an interesting case because the man was fucking with the cops and lying but also it's clear he was in the known about certain things. Depending on how the write up goes for PART III he could be mentioned. And I totally agree with you, that it's confusing that Dutroux killed the four girls (well only the two really - Julie and Mélissa died of starvation). Personally I think he didn't mean for Julie and Mélissa to die but it happened anyway, and for An and Eefje there's a bit about Michel Lelièvre talking about a man who visited the two girls and said they were too old (17 and 19). They were probably looking to sell the girls to someone.
Thanks for the reply! Curious.. How early do you think Dutroux was picked to be protected? His situation reminds me a bit of McVeigh, in the sense of this ordinary guy getting plucked out of obscurity with some kind of mysterious higher power helping them.. or maybe it's not obscurity, maybe there's something more ... How early do these kind of guys get picked... the idea that Dutroux had so many houses (no matter how shitty ) all bought off gov welfare and stealing cars seems absurd.. so he must have been doing kidnapping or something like that.. earlier on then just the ones we know of, no? This affair is the rabbit holes of all rabbit holes. Like JFK conspiracy on crack. :)
I think this time period of the 80s is right when he starting making a name for himself in crime, whether it’s with his own kidnappings or this connection to Brussels and Nihoul. I can’t say for sure that 100% met Nihoul then but I’m almost certain they met before 1995. He also probably had been an informant for Georges Zicot in Charleroi for a few years
Your work on this is literally the best out there.
Thank you so much Jake!
FANTASTIC.. WHEN CAN WE EXPECT PART 2?
Currently writing it up, should be done soon
